Our Hotel Köhlerei am See (still known to many as the former Hotel Schlehdorns Seehof) is located in the heart of the Black Forest, on the banks of the rustic Windgfällweiher lake. Our hotel combines modern industrial design with the rustic coziness of a brewery – the perfect place for your vacation in the Feldberg area.

Tradition meets design: the history of charcoal burning
Charcoal burning has been a tradition in the Black Forest for centuries. In the past, charcoal burners were responsible for producing valuable charcoal from the wood in our forests. Our hotel is located right next to the historic Kohlwald forest – a tradition that we preserve and interpret in a modern way at the Köhlerei am See.
As Black Forest hospitality is close to our hearts, we have combined the old craft with the flair of a rustic brewery. Under the motto “Brewery meets industrial style,” our design concept combines natural materials such as lots of wood with elements of steel and muted colors. The history of the Black Forest is reflected in both our rooms and our restaurant in a modern, cozy atmosphere.

Your break in the Black Forest: our rooms with a view
Enjoy the view directly onto the water of the Windgfällweiher pond or into the deep green fir forests of the Black Forest. Especially in winter, the area around our hotel is transformed into a quiet, snow-covered Black Forest backdrop – ideal for unwinding.
Facilities & details: We have a total of 13 cozy rooms, nine of which have their own balcony. Here you can enjoy the fresh Black Forest air and the panorama in a private atmosphere. Each room is equipped with its own bathroom (with shower) and TV.
Good to know for your stay:
- Breakfast included: Start the day feeling refreshed. Our extensive breakfast buffet in the Köhlerei is included in the room price.
- Dogs welcome: Is your four-legged friend part of the family? They are welcome guests here for a small cleaning fee.
- Fresh air: Even though our name “Köhlerei” might suggest otherwise, all our rooms are strictly non-smoking.

A paradise for cyclists awaits you around the Köhlerei am See. To help you discover the region in a relaxed manner, high-quality premium e-trekking bikes are available at the Hotel Schlehdorn.

Our comfort
Our hotel offers other amenities such as a special room for skis for our active snow lovers of the Feldberg as well as free private parking. In the future, e-bikes can be easily rented at our house.
Of course, you can use our WIFI free of charge in all areas of the Köhlerei am See.
An absolute highlight will be our new barrel sauna on the second floor of our hotel with panoramic views of the lake. The sauna offers space for up to 4 people and is open from 12pm – 8pm for our guests (different opening hours in summer). Relax after an eventful day in the Feldberg lake district and experience the full sauna pleasure in the wonderful scenery of the Black Forest.

Our restaurant at the Köhlerei am See offers cuisine that is deeply rooted in the region. Our chef Frank Beckert brings his passion for the Black Forest directly to your plate: he will spoil you with Baden classics and Black Forest specialties, which he interprets in a modern way with great attention to detail.
Regionality you can taste: Whether fresh fish, meat dishes from local producers, creative vegetarian dishes, or a hearty Black Forest snack – we attach great importance to fresh, regional ingredients.

When the weather is nice, your celebration can also be extended to our sun terrace – ideal for a champagne reception with a view of the Windgfällweiher pond.
